Why Join Riverside Medical Group?

Do you thrive on being challenged? Do you embrace change? Do you seek an opportunity to make a difference in healthcare outcomes while helping direct change in health care delivery? Do you embrace the "continuity of care" model as one likely to yield a better patient experience and improved medical outcome? Is patient care your number one priority?

If the answer to these questions is yes, we hope you'll consider joining a progressive, selective, patient centered and outcome-based medical group of more than 330 primary care and specialty providers and over 110 mid-levels at the top of their game.

Nestled among the southeastern Virginia waterfront communities that are home to civil war battlefields and the first English speaking settlements, Riverside Medical Group is located in Hampton Roads and serves a core market known as the Virginia Peninsula or "historic triangle." We also serve outlying markets in and around Gloucester, Tappahanock and the Virginia/Maryland eastern shore.

We're not just surrounded by history. We're making it.
Few medical groups in the country have physicians as engaged in a board room as they are in an operating room. But we believe our future depends on it.

In a historic endeavor, since 2009 Riverside Medical Group physicians have occupied senior leadership positions in Riverside healthcare facilities and service line structures. The flagship hospital, Riverside Regional Medical Center, is home to RMG member Dr. Patrick Parcells who serves as Senior Vice President and Hospital Administrator. Dr. James Dudley, RMG Chair, is a member of Riverside Health System Board of Directors. Seven practicing RMG physicians occupy Service Line Chief positions and teamed with Administrators, direct practice, facility, patient care and medical outcome decisions while having bottom line financial accountability.

We believe the changing face of healthcare is a complex, inextricably linked web of provider, facility, payer, payment and patient quality care issues that are best addressed with participation from physician providers whose top priority is patient care. Partnered with Riverside Health System leaders, we are helping re-shape an industry whose economic and care model must change. We work side by side to address the challenges and opportunities presented by healthcare reform, and to act, always, in the best interest of our patients.

The Physician Compact
Patient care is our number one priority. Based on our belief that the "continuity of care" model yields the optimal patient experience while achieving some of the best medical outcomes possible, and with a recognition that the healthcare industry as we know it is undergoing unprecedented change, RMG physicians drafted and adopted the following Physician Compact:

  • I will Focus on Patients as my First Responsibility
  • I will Collaborate on Care Delivery
  • I will Listen and Communicate Constructively
  • I will Take Ownership
  • I will Change
