Dale Stovall is a model of professional prominence in the community and in the medical profession. Dr. Stovall received his medical degree from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 1985. He is Board Certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology. He is currently employed as the Chair and Residency Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Riverside Regional Medical Center and is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia Health System.
Dr. Stovall has numerous accomplishments and has received several awards including an American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) STAR Award in 2011, a National Residents Teaching Award in 2006, and Richmond Magazine’s “Best Physicians for Women” from 2001-2006. He has worked as a scientific investigator on several large National clinical research trials regarding women’s healthcare including the Heart and Estrogen Replacement Study (HERS) for which he also served on both the Steering Committee and the Gynecologic Outcomes Committee, and the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) for which he also gave testimony for at the National Institutes of Health. In regards to Scientific Medical meetings, he has served as both a faculty member and chair in numerous medical symposia and postgraduate courses at the annual ASRM, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG), and North American Menopause Society (NAMS) meetings. He was an invited speaker at the National Institute of Aging’s Workshop on Reproductive Aging meeting in 2009. He has been an invited International lecturer. Furthermore, he has served on the Scientific Abstract Committee for both the ASRM and the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technologies (SART). As a member of the Practice Committee for SART he authored and co-authored numerous society guidelines, position statements, and committee opinions for the practice of assisted reproduction in the US. Currently, he is serving on the FDA Reproductive Health Drugs Advisory Committee.
Dr. Stovall serves on the editorial board of three scientific journals, and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for 10 additional scientific journals including the New England Journal of Medicine. He is a mentor in the National mentoring programs for both NAMS and the Association of Professors in Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) Solvay Scholar’s program. He was recently elected to serve as the secretary/treasurer for the Virginia District of ACOG. He has authored or co-authored 94 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts and reviews that have been published in numerous medical journals including the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences. He has authored 14 medical book chapters and presented 76 abstracts at Scientific Medical meetings. His areas of interest in regards to medical research include infertility, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, menopause, osteoporosis and minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Stovall is an outstanding alumnus, a strong leader of the medical profession, and an exemplary TTUHSC graduate.
